The WCCF made grants during the 2023 - 2024 grant year that ranged from $12,500 to $50,000 to the following Martha's Vineyard nonprofits:
A grant to the Martha's Vineyard Fisherman's Preservation Trust to support their Seafood Donation Program.
A grant to the Vineyard Montessori School to support its Equitable Access Initiative which serves toddlers through preschool children.
A grant to the Martha's Vineyard Chamber Music Society to support its expanded visiting artist program that provides, among other things, critical resources for the Island schools in music education, especially at the middle and upper school levels.
A grant to Sail Martha's Vineyard to support its free summer sailing and windsurfing camps for Island youth.
A grant to the Northeast Native Network of Kinship & Healing, Inc., for the purchase of a passenger van to serve its Food Equity program.
A grant to the Lagoon Pond Association for the purchase of a water quality monitoring device that will take year-round, real-time measurements of water quality to help determine the current health of the Lagoon Pond.
A grant to Hospice & Palliative Care of Martha's Vineyard to support its efforts to provide palliative care through increased hours for registered nurses and social work.
A grant to the Vineyard House, Inc. for its Project Renewed Haven which entails a renovation and update of its housing facilities.
A grant to Island Autism Group, MV for the purchase and installation of solar panels that will heat, light and power the Island Autism Group center.
A grant to the Island Housing Trust to support the Aquinnah Town Center Apartments project, an affordable housing development adjacent to the Aquinnah Children's Playground that the WCCF funded in our 2021-2022 grant cycle.
The WCCF made grants during the 2022 - 2023 grant year that ranged from $20,000 to just over $50,000 to the following Martha's Vineyard nonprofits:
A grant to Island Elderly Housing, Inc. MV for a portable generator to provide emergency power to its 172 elderly residents in 165 apartments on four different island campuses.
A grant to Hospice & Palliative Care MV for a one-year, pilot palliative care consultation services clinic in conjunction with Martha's Vineyard Hospital.
A grant to MV Shellfish Group (MVSG) to complete a multi-year research and demonstration project on the most disease-resistant strain of oysters for restoration efforts in island ponds and waters.
Two grants to Island Grown Initiative, MV (IGI). One for IGI’s low- and moderate-income Vacation Lunch program to provide free, fresh, and healthy weekday lunches while school is out of session to the island’s school children and a second grant for IGI’s Prepared Meals program that serves various persons, including, seniors, the homeless and persons with disabilities.
A grant to Island Autism Group, MV to complete its community Farm Stand & Gardens that the WCCF initially funded in 2022.
A grant to MV Center for Education & Training (MVCET) to cover the full cost of a 2nd cohort of 10 students and for the continuing education of the 20 cohort students from our 2021-2022 WCCF-funded project.
A grant to Island Housing Trust (IHT) to support its Cat Hollow pocket neighborhood in Tisbury.
A grant to Harbor Homes of Martha’s Vineyard, Inc. to fund a seasonal coordinator for the extended operation of the Island's only homeless shelter from October through March.
The WCCF made grants during the 2021 - 2022 grant year that ranged from $25,000 to $50,000 to the following Martha's Vineyard nonprofits:
A grant to MVY Community Services, Inc. for The Island Counseling Center, Clinical Residency Program to sponsor on-island, skilled clinicians to provide counseling and mental health services for substance use disorders.
A grant to the Island Autism Group, MV for its community farm stand & gardens as part of its Hub Center, Phase I project to provide island children and young adults on the autism spectrum with enrichment, life skills and workforce training.
A grant to Aquinnah Parks & Recreation through the Friends of the Aquinnah Library for the first ever Aquinnah town children’s playground that will be a key component of a community food forest and eventual affordable housing project.
A grant to the Island Grown Initiative, MV to provide free, fresh and healthy lunches while school is out during the summer months to the island’s school children where nearly 50% qualify for free or reduced-priced lunches.
A grant to MVCET (formerly ACE MV) for its early childhood development certification & cohort program offering an island-based, job certification program to qualify workers to meet current employment opportunities at island childcare facilities where only 8% of the island’s infants are served, and 70% of island toddlers are in need of or on waiting lists for licensed care givers.
A grant to Harbor Homes of Martha’s Vineyard, Inc. for case worker and related support services at its Tashmoo House for Men to provide life skills, employment and mental health support to the island’s homeless population made increasingly vulnerable by the escalating housing costs and increasingly limited rental property inventory.
A grant to Navigator Homes of Martha’s Vineyard Inc. for its MV Green House Residential Eldercare & Skilled Nursing Home to provide, in partnership with Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, a full-service, skilled nursing and short-term rehab facility to replace the only existing but severely outdated and costly on-island facility.
A grant to the Island Housing Trust to support its on-island affordable housing initiatives where 70% of the island’s homes are owned by seasonal residents or investors compared to a national “community” average of 10%.
